Booking tree work in East Herts and Welwyn Hatfield

Felling, crown reduction, pruning and stumps, and which council to ask before a protected tree is touched.

The crown of a garden tree.

Tree work here is carried out by arboriculturists. The certificates are kept up to date, and the first item on the job is how the work will be done safely, not which branch comes off first.

The operations on the list

These are the jobs named on the tree surgery page.

  • Felling
  • Crown reduction and crown lifting
  • Re-shaping and pruning
  • Deadwooding
  • Coppicing, thinning and pollarding
  • Stump removal, including where a patio is about to go in

Hertford, Ware and Bengeo sit with East Herts. Welwyn Garden City sits with Welwyn Hatfield. St Albans is its own council. If a tree might be covered by a preservation order or stand in a conservation area, that conversation happens before a date is booked. A conifer screen that has shut out a Potters Bar garden, as on the Arlington project, is a different question from felling a protected oak.
